Instument Basic Information

The probe is held in the modified pengrip. Use a very light grasp; between the thumb, the index finger and the middle finger. The tip of the probe should always be in contact with the surface of the tooth. While measuring pockets the probe is inserted with light pressure until it reaches the bottom of the pocket.

The instrument is used for determination of pocket depth, bleeding on probing, determining level of clinical attachment and gingival recession, furcation analyses and detection of subgingival irregularities (calculus, plaque).
